Coverage That Works as Hard as You Do
Every October, we come together for Breast Cancer Awareness Month—a time to honor survivors, remember those we've lost, and redouble our efforts in the fight against this disease. Empathy and knowledge are powerful tools, and each of us can play a vital role in this ongoing battle.
Why Awareness Matters
Given that one in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, raising awareness is crucial in the fight against this disease. In 2025, an estimated 316,950 women and 2,800 men in the U.S. will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, along with approximately 59,080 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer. These numbers remind us of the far-reaching impact of breast cancer and the importance of our collective awareness and education efforts.
The Importance of Early Detection
The good news is that early detection can make all the difference. About 66% of cases are diagnosed at a localized stage, when treatment tends to be most effective, and the five-year survival rate at that point is 99%. This statistic highlights the crucial role that routine screenings and prompt attention to changes in your health can play. This month serves as a meaningful reminder to schedule your own routine screenings and to encourage friends and loved ones to do the same.
Your Role in the Fight Against Breast Cancer
Every person has a part to play. You might wonder what your role in this fight can be. It's simple—stay informed, spread awareness, and take action. If you ever have questions about what your insurance may cover when it comes to preventive care, I’m always here to help. Knowing your benefits is a powerful step towards taking full advantage of the care available to you.
As we navigate Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let’s each commit to taking a step forward: schedule a screening, share this post to spread information, or reach out with your questions. Together, let’s shine a spotlight on the importance of awareness, early detection, and support for all those affected.
